Don't think college is still worth it? Think again!

Wondering whether college is still worth it in a post-pandemic economy? You aren't alone. Students and recent graduates have increasingly found local employment options that might have them reconsidering whether to apply to college, but the numbers don't lie: a college degree is still worth it.

The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics confirms that earners with a bachelor's degree take home a median of $1305 a week, while those with just a high school diploma take home just 60% of that, or $781.That's an annual difference of almost $30,000 on average. Over the course of a lifetime of earning, that's more than a million dollars difference.

Aside from the earning potential, college-degree trajectories more consistently lead to careers with substantial benefits, job security, health insurance, financial independence, and, increasingly better mental health outcomes. The Pew Research Center 3 out of 4 American college graduates report they are "very satisfied" with their family lives, compared to only 6 out of 10 of those with only a high school diploma.

Another reason you should still seriously consider college is the increased flexibility of many educational institutions, which offer online and more customizable learning modes. If your student is willing to take the time to prepare a competitive application and complete some extra work to apply for financial aid, college can also be far more affordable than you may think.

Just as importantly--getting a college degree doesn't always look the same. Community colleges offer Associates' degrees in affordable, flexible settings to help working, nontraditional, and other students who may not be ready to invest in a four-year program. They also frequently offer vocational certificates and programs, just like technical universities.

At The Learning Curve, we have a long history of helping students at any stage of the process and with extremely varied goals successfully pursue a college education. To find out how we can help you with this decision and prepare for college, give us a call or message us below today!
